With Andrea set to make a big appearance at the prison in The Walking Dead 3×11 “I Ain’t a Judas,” Laurie Holden has spoken out on why Andrea isn’t so bad.

Things have been heating up for Andrea from the start in this season of The Walking Dead .

Initially detached from her original group of survivors when the Greene family farm was overrun by a horde of zombies during the end of season 2, we first saw her with her new companion Michonne in season 3, sick to her stomach whilst fending for her life in post-apocalypic America.

Flash forward to current episodes, and she’s not only lost Michonne, but has fallen into the arms of a depraved sociopath, the Governor. But will she wise up in enough time to save her friends, and herself?

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Laurie Holden spoke out about Andrea’s decision making, the Governor, and which team she’s on in the war between the prison and Woodbury.

When asked whether she’s rooting for the Governor or Rick, Holden says Andrea isn’t just thinking about those two solely, but also everyone else who might rely on her. She’s ”Team The People.” At the end of the world, it’s not about picking sides, but about drawing these two communities together to get as many people through as possible.

TWD Gov and Andrea

According to Holden, Andrea’s choices are mostly motivated by her concern for others in this walker filled wilderness. Whilst she loves Rick and co, as well as Michonne, she’s also come to know and love the people of Woodbury — all 74 of them. Whilst we’ve all got our fingers crossed for Rick, Glenn, Maggie and Daryl, we shouldn’t forget that the people of Woodbury aren’t all murderous psychos like their leader.

Holden has also come under fire for her character’s choices throughout the show, particularly her love interest in the Governor. However, Holden holds on to the fact that Andrea is human and, love it or hate it, humans make mistakes.

When asked how Andrea could fall for the Governor, Holden says:

She didn’t know that he was bat sh** crazy… How many times in your life have you, as a woman, or your best friend or someone you cared about who’s awesome, shacked up with the wrong dude?

Maybe she has a point? However, wouldn’t Andrea be better off with mild mannered Milton? They seem to have a lot in common.

Holden hints:

They’re kindred spirits in a way. They want the best for humanity, so you may see an alignment of those two at some point — possibly.

We’ll be watching out for that for sure!

With Andrea set to make a shocking appearance at the prison as revealed in the promo, we’re expecting fireworks. In fact, Holden has promised us that our minds are going to “explode.” Woah!

Tune in to tomorrow’s episode of The Walking Dead 3×11 “I Ain’t a Judas”, 9/8 ET/PT on AMC.
