Some fans of The Walking Dead were disappointed when Tyreese and co. didn’t feature in Sunday’s episode, “Home.” So where’s Tyreese? HUGE spoiler alert!
When Tyreese, Sasha, Ben and Allen first met the prison survivors in The Walking Dead, fans of the orgignal comics were surprised at the differences between the storylines. In Robert Kirkman’s original graphic novels, Tyreese is a former pro-football linebacker who first meets Rick’s group (family in tow) on the highway whilst they seek out food and shelter together. Tyreese eventually becomes Rick’s second in command following the death of Shane.
However, Tyreese and co.’s story is very different in the TV series. Stumbling through a gap in the prison’s walls, the group is rescued by Carl who finds them in the catacombs. Tyreese, played by Chad Coleman, sets about being accepted by the prison settlers; but in a fit of crazy Rick shouts at a hallucination of Lori, and the witnesses get this confused with him meaning them, so they hastily depart.
But was that the last we were to see of Tyreese, Sash, Ben and Allen? Or will they be back for more of season 3 (and perhaps onwards)?
Glen Mazzara, showrunner for The Walking Dead until the end of season 3, hints not, saying that Sasha and Tyreese at least “will be major players” for the second half of the season.
Henry Spivey of SpoilerTV gave a couple of spoiler snippets:
Where is Ty and his people in episode 10 you might add? Well, he and his people left the prison. They end up meeting someone in the woods, some new people to them, but not to us viewers. This put Ty and his group in probably good graces with someone we know on the show, or are they zombie dinner?
“Who could this be?” we hear you scream, and we had our theories. However, a sneak detailed synopsis for the episode shared by SpoilerTV has indicated that Tyreese’s return may be as soon as episode 11, which airs on Sunday. Whilst we’re not sure it’s completely true, it definitely sounds plausible!
Allegedly, Tyreese and co. will cross paths with Andrea and Milton whom venture out to the prison. Begging for help and somewhere to stay, Milton points them into the direction of Woodbury, and offers to take them there. Later, The Governor tells them they’re welcome to stay as long as they want, but that Woodbury has had issues with another group of survivors. From the sounds of things, Tyreese gives The Governor the same “anything to contribute” malarky he gave Rick, but maybe this time it goes down better?
Given the rumours, theories and leaks, things look like they could be heating up for Rick and co. But given Tyreese’s original status in the comics, will he turn for the better and see through The Governor in the end?
Tune in to The Walking Dead on Sunday 9/8 p.m. ET/PT on AMC to find out.
